If forgiveness is the key to life – why is it so difficult to do?

Many people think that if they forgive someone it is the same as giving the perpetrator absolution but in reality it is a way to cut the tie that binds you from the perp. Once you realize that forgiveness is for you not the perp it makes the possibility easier. A person does not have to know that you have forgiven them for a transgression and just because you forgive a person does not mean that person becomes a part of your daily life.

One thing is for sure, if you don’t forgive that person, he/she is with you influencing your life everyday… by proxy. In order for us to be forgiven for our mistakes and missteps we have to be willing to forgive the same thing in others.

I am trying to let my mistakes stop being what dictates my daily life. As a friend once said, “I hope I have crop failure because I have sown some terrible seeds.”

Who do you need to forgive today? Do you need to let yourself off the hook and forgive yourself? It has been my experience as a psychotherapist forgiving Self is most difficult, but it can be done.

Whether you view the proverbial glass as half empty or half full… what a lot of people fail to realize is that there is room for more…

More what?  Joy, serenity, life, happiness whatever you need or desire in life… if you will look at that glass as your container that is waiting for you to fill with your need/desire; life gets simpler.

You also get to decide how large the glass/container is. How large is your joy container? Is there room for more and can you stand to have more joy in your life?

Maybe we should define joy. For me joy means having the ability to see the gift in daily life even during the struggles. Finding pleasures of nature as in a sunrise, sunset, or moon-rise. Having the wisdom to know that contentment is not a bad word and being joyful that you can be content with life and still strive for growth toward life’s hall of fame.

What is your definition for joy? Are you content with where you are in life? Do you have an action life for finding and maintaining a joy-filled life?

I am enjoying life empowered by grace! Are you?

It is true that most people think it is better to give than to receive, but the real truth is they both are just different sides to the same coin.

What makes giving so easy when receiving is so difficult for the same person??? I was taught as a child “It is better to give than to receive.” I now realize that receive,  implied “need” for the person receiving and generosity for the person giving. Do you remember the saying, “Give with a cheerful heart?” What is wrong with receiving with a cheerful heart???

When a coin is being tossed no one knows which way it will land, heads or tails… but whoever chose heads accepts it and whoever chose tails accepts it and they both go  about the game… I say we can do just the same, in the game of life … one day I might have to give and the next day receive or vice versa… I just want to stay open and let the Universe flow through me…

You in???

Tell me your take on the give and receive coin.

Living life in the sensory lane…

How often do you use all 5 senses to enjoy your favorite food, drink, place, or person???

Once at a workshop in Colorado Springs a presentor showed us (the participants) how to enjoy an orange using all of our senses. One person had the orange and was physically eating it, but all our mouths were watering with desire, taste buds were on edge, eyes were wide open with anticipation, we could smell the orange essence with each spurt of juice, it was quiet enough to hear the skin peel off and her smacking lips, and as she ran her fingers over the bumps and valleys of the orange we could remember the feel of an orange. I immediately wanted to go home and have this intimate experience eating an orange in private using all my senses.

That happened 17 years ago and my senses still awaken with the memory…

How have you enjoyed your favorite ………….  using all your senses??? Tell me your sensory story.
